Mark your calendars for Friday, February 14, 2014 – St. Valentine’s Day. That is the magical day when Tammy and John will commit their lives to each other in front of God, family and friends at 2:30 p.m. at the Scioto County Welcome Center in lovely Portsmouth, Ohio. Thank you for your support and encouragement of the happy couple and we hope you plan to celebrate with them.
Tammy and John plan to keep the ceremony short and simple and provide a comfortable and enjoyable event for everyone. Their intention is to spend time with their families and friends and not be concerned with following wedding protocol. There will be LIGHT REFRESHMENTS and CAKE served at the reception. Thank you for understanding that they are having a cost conscious wedding with no formal dinner or alcohol being provided.

After 10 years of dating, including distances apart as far as Iraq and Germany, the time has finally come to join together in marriage.
John and Tammy had their first date on January 8, 2000. We went to dinner at The Harvester, a quaint little restaurant in Chillicothe, OH. The evening was full of great conversation and laughter, which was the beginning of a beautiful friendship. While on the drive home that evening, John asked me what my thoughts were on the upcoming Valentine’s Day holiday. My previous experiences with Valentine’s Day had been disastrous, so my reaction to John’s question was, “No good ever come from that day!”
John didn’t say anything as he pulled out his driver’s license and told me to look at his birthdate. Embarrassed, I saw that his birthday was February 14. His response was, “I’ve never had anyone curse the day I was born on a first date!” As we laughed, we both knew this was the beginning of something very special. Since that night, John and I have maintained our quirky senses of humor, and our friendship grew into love. When deciding on a wedding date, it seemed the obvious choice was Valentine’s Day.
Over the years, as our love for each other has grown, so has our love for God. Through ups and downs and great distances, like when John was serving in the Army in Iraq, we remained committed to each other and kept faith that God’s will would be revealed to us.
As we take this next step in our lives, we ask for your prayers for our future, and we thank you for the love and support you have given us.
